The Royal Clifton Hotel, which commands a premier site in Southport, has joined the growing numbers of businesses in the resort to back the town’s Dementia Friendly campaign.
“I’m delighted to be the first hotel in Southport to be part of this initiative,” said Wendy Lucas, sales manager at the Royal Clifton Hotel and Spa.
“I have a family member with the condition and have seen at first- hand how isolating it can be.
“I was very keen for the staff to take up Dementia Friendly training and to sign up to the Dementia Alliance. We have already looked at ways of changing our practice and
discovered that even small changes can make a big difference.”
“ Holidaying in a hotel is an opportunity for people to get away from it all and experience a safe, indulgent haven. Our aim is to ensure this experience is extended to all our
visitors and consider ourselves an inclusive hotel.”
Councillor Pat Keith, spearheading the Southport Dementia Friendly campaign with Southport MP John Pugh, said: “I’m delighted that the Royal Clifton is leading
the way and I hope other hotels follow.
“Southport is a tourist destination and a seaside resort. All the research clearly outlines the boost to peoples’ health and well-being when they spend time on the coast.
“The Dementia Friendly campaign is helping to break down barriers and reduce stigma and extend a welcome to everyone so that they can enjoy the health benefits of Southport.”
We would like to express our sincere gratitude and a huge " THANK YOU " for a memorable experience at the Clifton Hotel on Saturday 20th of February 2016. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent and your caring staff couldn't have done more to make my Mums 80th Birthday celebration run any smoother. The tables and food were well presented and you provided a separate cake table and stand for our " 2 " cakes. You also kept everyone happy with free flowing tea and coffee. The bar staff were excellent, we would like to take this opportunity to mention Siobhan who looked after us all really well all day and nothing was too much trouble, her superb customer service and pleasant personality really stood out, she was excellent.
Please can you pass on our regards and a big thank you. We would not hesitate to have another Family get together at the Clifton.
